Mapping Memories

Mapping Memories is a memory tracking application that allows you to log memorable paces you have visited and share with others

Overview
Mapping Memories is a concept app designed from scratch to help users save meaningful locations and build a personal travel log. The project involved user research, wireframing, and visual development in Figma and Photoshop—aiming to turn everyday moments into lasting memories.
Research
I started by interviewing people around me to understand if there was a need for an app like this. The goal was to learn whether they’d use it, what features they’d want, and how it could fit into their everyday lives.
Goal
The goal with mapping memories was to design a calm, intuitive experience that encourages users to reflect on their surroundings and save places that hold personal meaning—turning everyday locations into a visual memory map.
Meet the audience
How might we?
How might we encourage people to document the locations they have visited to keep track of the memories they make?
Ideation
The ideation process began with concept sketching, and with the help of my classmates, I developed user flows that laid the foundation for creating low-fidelity wireframes.
User testing
I conducted medium-fidelity testing of all user flows with four different participants. The testing process was successful overall but initiated an extensive phase of refinement and redesign. It provided valuable insights, particularly in evaluating the necessity and effectiveness of the icons.
Iteration
User testing really helped highlight what was working—and what wasn’t. Based on feedback, I simplified the layout, made icons more intuitive, and cleaned up the visual hierarchy to create a smoother, more user-friendly experience.
Final Screens
The final designs focus on clarity, ease of use, and a more engaging visual experience. Every change—from the layout to the icons—was shaped by user feedback and intentional design choices to make the app feel intuitive, personal, and fun to use.

Conclusion

This project showed me how effective early ideation can be—the sticky notes exercise really helped figuring out user flows and prioritize user needs from the start.
